Pupils in sports kit

Infant classes make use of on-site facilities and resources and are introduced to movement, awareness, co-ordination and early games skills. From Reception class upwards pupils are taught to swim. Junior pupils enjoy a wide range of sporting activities with gymnastics, dance, swimming and outdoor seasonal games forming an integral part of the curriculum.

There is a full programme of sport in the secondary school. Boys' games focus mainly on rugby and football in the winter with cricket and athletics in the summer. Girls’ games focus on hockey and netball as well as athletics and individual sports.

A full fixture list of games against other schools encourages a healthy competitive spirit. Selected pupils represent the school in regional and national events run by the Independent Schools Association, such as the annual rugby sevens tournament, the swimming gala and the athletics meeting. The annual swimming gala and sports days for our infant, junior and senior school pupils are very popular events, well supported by our parents, at which our pupils enjoy showing off their developing skills.
