Welcome
to the Kings Monkton School website
I hope this web site will give you lots of information about our school. If you are a parent looking for an independent education for your child, you are most welcome to visit our school and see what we can offer.
Kings Monkton School was established in 1870, and is a co-educational
independent day school of 400 children from nursery age right up to university
entrance, situated on a single, purpose-built site close to Cardiff city
centre. We are a member of the Independent
Schools Council (ISC): Overall,
schools in the ISC perform
substantially better than schools outside its membership
- HM Chief
Inspector of Schools.
The School is also a non-profit-making charitable trust dedicated to the sole aim of providing an education of excellence.
Kings Monkton School was identified as the highest climbing school in the FT top 500, based on A level results for 2005, 2006 and 2007.
The Independent
Schools Inspectorate (ISI)
carried out a full inspection of our school in November 2003. The inspection
report concluded that Pupils
reach good standards in relation to their ability and their attainment
is above the national average for schools with a similar ability range.
They also reach good standards in their personal development. The very
good support and guidance offered to all pupils and the positive response
of pupils create a school in which success, tolerance and harmony are
key features. The school has few weak features.
I believe that Kings Monkton is a unique school where every pupil is known and valued and where our high level of academic standards and pastoral care combine to encourage pupils to achieve their potential. If you would like to find out more about our school, please get in touch.
