Ben pens his first novel
Congratulations to Ben T of Year 9 who has
recently completed the first draft of his first gothic
novel.
Based on a mythical world of gods and prophets, Advent took a
year to complete and spans a staggering 100,000 words and will
hopefully be published to kick-start Ben’s promising career in
writing.
Ben recently won the annual UK schools’ History of Parliament
Competition, (which was quite a feat considering most of the
entrants were 15) to win a trip to the Houses of Parliament.
He also got to meet with Lords Speaker Baroness Hayman for his
speech on the 1832 Reform Act.
Away from the notepad, Ben enjoys acting and has recently made
his screen debut on BBC Two.
Mr Dorey said: “At Kings Monkton we always try
to be flexible and accommodating to meet the needs of our students
and all members of staff have thoroughly enjoyed supporting Ben and
Alex (who splits his time between GCSE studies and an MPhil at
Cardiff University) thus far in their education. With different
skill-sets, both brothers are nonetheless exceptionally gifted
students who have displayed outstanding levels of passion and
commitment, but at the same time possess a modesty that has won
them the respect of all members of the school community.
Ben’s success in the History of Parliament
competition comes after winning two other national literary
competitions last year. Moreover, he has recently starred in a TV
drama for BBC and has just completed the draft of his first novel
which I will look forward to reading in the near future.
Huge congratulations go to Ben in all that he
has achieved thus far. He should rightfully feel very proud.”
