Monkton School - Sport
Infant classes mainly make use of on-site facilities and are introduced to movement awareness, co-ordination and basic games skills.
From Year 1 upwards pupils are taught to swim. Junior pupils enjoy a wide range of sporting activities with PE, swimming and outdoor seasonal games forming an integral part of the curriculum.
There is a full programme of sport in the secondary school. Boys' games focus mainly on rugby and soccer in the winter with cricket and athletics in the summer. Girls' games focus on hockey and netball as well as athletics and individual sports.
A full fixture list encourages a healthy competitive spirit. There are also a number of extra-curricular activities that pupils may participate in such as judo and fencing as well as having the chance to join regular ski trips abroad. In recent years pupils have skied in Quebec and Colorado.
