Kings Monkton School is an independent school, based in the heart of Cardiff, welcoming children of all abilities between the ages of three to eighteen.
At Kings Monkton School, we believe that every child has huge potential to excel. We aspire to nurture and unlock that potential, opening the minds of our pupils through inspired learning.
We are an inclusive school that focuses on building confidence and character. We believe that the grounding and learning achieved with us is a crucial factor in helping our pupils go on to become successful, fulfilled adults.
We aim to develop well-rounded children, both academically and socially, so you can feel confident that your child will get the best possible start in life. We recognise that every child is an individual, and we deliver the best possible education for your child, valuing academic outcomes as well as attainment regardless of academic performance.
Despite being based in the heart of our capital city, we pride ourselves on the fact that we maintain a village school ethos, providing a friendly and caring environment to our pupils, parents and staff. The school’s great history, coupled with our holistic approach and focus on wellbeing, means our pupils benefit from a style of education that upholds important values, combined with the latest learning methods, technology and innovations in the classroom. We invite you to visit us and see for yourself what our school can offer your child.
Paul Norton – Principal
Our Vice Principal
It gives me great pleasure to be Vice Principal of such a prestigious school, especially taking responsibility for the primary school. Small classes ensure that personalised learning is in place as a matter of course. This means that our excellent teaching and support staff can identify each child’s favoured learning styles, and in doing so ensure that our teaching styles match.
With this every child can reach their full potential. In the primary school pupils are taught mathematics and English (reading, writing and oracy) every morning, whilst the creative afternoon curriculum has a thematic approach. Pupils are taken out of school to interesting sites in and around Cardiff: to shops, parks, museums and castles, to name but a few, for enriched learning experiences. We also invite visitors to contribute to our pupils’ lessons.
Activities that bring subjects to life ensure pupils are able to achieve their full potential, as learning and skills are retained much more effectively. We are a small family school, and children settle quickly and easily into our friendly and stimulating environment. I hope to have the pleasure of working with you and your children in the future.
